The Cape Fear Council, BSA Historical Association was established by action of the Cape Fear Council, BSA executive board on April 17, 2007. The organizational meeting of the association was held at Camp Bowers on Saturday June 30, 2007. Bob Walton was asked to head the association for the first two years.

The purpose of the association is to make available and/or to publish historical information concerning the Cape Fear Council, BSA. To preserve and to protect historical information, including manuscripts, documents, photographs and memorabilia related to the operation of the Boy Scouts of America in southeastern North Carolina. To establish and to operate a Boy Scout museum at the Cape Fear Council reservation and at other appropriate locations; and to encourage fellowship among Scouts and Scouters based in a knowledge of the rich local, national and international history of the Boy Scout movement.

The association maintains displays in the BB&T Training Center, Upchurch Museum & Administration building at the Cape Fear Council Reservation and in the Cape Fear Council office in Wilmington, NC. A research library has been established in the BB&T Training Center.

How you can help..

The association needs the help of all scouts past and present. We would like information from all sources. Please try to be as specific as possible. Include photos, sources, names, dates, and locations when possible. Fill out a copy of the “Interview Questions” if you have the time. Tell us about your experiences in Cape Fear – at Camps, Camporees, Jamborees, Fellowships, Conclave, and NOACa. Send photos of all kinds – You may find them online soon for everyone to enjoy.
